These Terms govern your use of Tova通话 (the "app") and the backend services that support it. By installing or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
Tova通话 is a mobile translation app for travellers. Core features include live camera OCR with per-character romanization, text translation across 118 languages, voice translation, Favourites, a personal Glossary, and optional offline phrase packs and the CC-CEDICT Chinese dictionary.
Some features require a paid subscription (Pro, Pro Plus, Team) or a one-time purchase (Travel Pass) and are subject to the in-app pricing shown at purchase time.
Our use of the limited data the app collects is described in the Privacy Policy. By using the app you agree to that policy.
The app routes translation requests through one of the following engines, depending on your selection: Google Translate, DeepL, OpenAI, or Baidu. Each engine has its own terms of service, which govern the text routed through it. We are not responsible for the accuracy or availability of those services.
The app and the backend are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation, and we do not warrant that translations meet any specific standard of accuracy or suitability.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to the app or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the app in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $20. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, regardless of legal theory.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the app or the backend if you breach these Terms or abuse the service. You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. Sections 7, 8, 10, and 11 survive termination.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be surfaced in-app on the next launch after the update. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page tracks revisions. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the app will be resolved in the courts located in Vancouver, British Columbia, unless local consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
